PULA is a beautiful town of antiquity, of parks, and of summer festivals situated on the southern part of the
Istrian peninsula. Pula is also the largest city and port in Istria, communication, economic and administrative
centre, is an attractive place to spend a holiday for many tourists, with some 2,350 hours of sunshine a
year. The history of the town is etched in every stone, which is indicated by the large number of cultural
historic monuments from almost all periods of its past, of which many are an integral part of the fabric of
the city. As a tourist centre, Pula offers a large number of various cultural and entertainment events
throughout the year.

ŠIJANA FOREST, only two kilometres from the very centre of the city you will find a heaven for your body
and soul. The narrow winding labyrinth-like paths at every curve reveal surprises, a small animal or a
beautiful specimen of forest flora.
Šijana park forest covers an area of 152.13 hectares and characteristic are examples of foliates and conifers.
Visitors should be enabled to discover the values of specific species due to their impressiveness and
rareness. Such are examples of cork oak (Quercus suber), downy oak (Quercus pubescens) and Turkish pine
(Pinus brutia).

VALTURA is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage. The most valuable discovery is Nezakcij,
archaeologist site, which is situated only 2 km away from Valtura and is one of the favourite destinations
for archaeologists. Nezakcijska fort was designed in the Bronze Age. It was a political and religious centre of
the tribal alliance Histrians and their capital. In 177 B.C. a decisive battle between the Romans and Histrians
played out at this location. After the Roman conquest Nezakcij became a military reconnaissance stations.
Valtura is also famous for its neo-Gothic church of St. John the Evangelist, which was built in 1899 at the
site of an even older church that dates from 1630. Also famous is Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary with its
Gothic inscription from 14th century.

MOTOVUN - according to legend, Motovun was built by giants, of which the most famous is Giant Joze. Its
history begins in the time of Celts, who raised its settlement sekusi at the place of nowadays Motovun. This
ancient Istrian town located on the top of 277 meter high hill, whose appearance derives from the 12th
and 13th century. To the top of Motovun hill, to its Venetian town square, leads “The longest flight” with
1052 stairs. Motovun is a birthplace of the ship's screws inventor Josef Ressel, whose motive propeller
became the trademark of international Motovun film festival, successfully hosted here since 1999.
Surrounding provides the ability to walk through the Motovun woods, where you can find truffle
mushrooms - excellent gourmet specialty, vineyards on the south-western slopes of the hill, and hunting
and bike rides. In this area thrives Motovun’s Grape Teran, Pinot and Malvasia.

BRIJUNI ISLANDS, situated along the southwestern coast of Istria, were proclaimed a national park in 1983.
They cover an area of 2,700 acres, and total fourteen larger and small islands, of which the largest are Veliki
and Mali Brijuni. The islands abound with Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean vegetation, where
tourists can take in the surroundings of untouched nature. The island has a zoo, pheasant farm and safari
park with numerous diverse forms of animal life from throughout the world. Traces of human inhabitation
on the island date back to the earlier neolithic period and among the many archaeological sites, the most
significant is the pre-historic settlement on Gradina hill. Remains of a typical summer residence and temple
from Roman times in the Verige Gulf, and on the western shore, very valuable ruins dating from the late
ancient-Byzantine period and the Byzantine basilica of St. Mary dating from the sixth century are located
on the western coast of the island.

ROVINJ is a wonderful town, the pearl of Istrian peninsula with tempestuous history and beautiful present.
The old part of the settlement is lying on a peninsula and it was first mentioned under the name of Ruigno,
Ruvigno, Ruginio in the Cosmography by the Anonymous of Ravenna who gives us an account of Istria in
the 4th and 5th centuries.

PICAN is an old hilltop town located in the Istrian hinterland. It is situated on the road Krsan - Pazin. You will
spot its bell tower on 385 meters high hilltop on your right side. This little town is one of the oldest
Bishopric seats in the World.
Pican is also the birth place of Matko Brajsa Rasan - the author of the Istrian anthem. And his beauty will
impress you.
